Starting out

Highlight Technologies was founded in 2008 by Ms. Rebecca Andino. She was inspired by her experience at a successful small business, The Analysis Corporation (TAC).
“I was hired out of grad school, and we were mentored and given opportunities to contribute to critical national security missions. Our customers trusted us and we did great work,” says Andino. She wanted to create a company that provided a similar level of excellent service to clients and great opportunities for employees. We were awarded our first contract in early 2008 to provide IT program management office support to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

Growing

Since our first contract, Highlight Technologies has been fortunate to have generous mentors, dedicated employees and great clients. We now have work in multiple agencies (DHS, DOD, DOJ, State, FDIC), with multiple primes, and prime contracts. We obtained 8(a) certification from the Small Business Administration in 2009. We were awarded the “Emerging Star” award from the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce in 2010. We see a very promising future ahead of us, and we continue to learn, work hard and grow.

Giving back

Highlight Technologies also gives back to the community. We support NOVACO, which helps survivors of domestic abuse and their families, and FACETS, which assists homeless individuals and families in the Northern Virginia area.

We also support our community of small businesses. We are active in the AFCEA Small Business Committee and help to organize a series of Industry Symposia that pair up small and large businesses. Highlight Technologies is a corporate sponsor of Women in Technology (WIT) and Women in Homeland Security (WHS).
